Two quick checks. The first tests the $30,000 small supplier threshold. The second estimates net HST for a reporting period. Ontario HST is 13%. Figures are estimates only.
What to remember
- If you go over $30,000 in a single quarter, you must charge HST from that sale and register within 29 days.
- If you go over across four quarters, you stop being a small supplier at the end of the month after that quarter.
- You may register voluntarily below the threshold to claim ITCs. Compare the extra work first.
- The quick method is a flag only: it needs election on Form GST74 and other conditions. It is not suggested by this tool.
- File and pay on time. CRA charges interest and may charge penalties on late amounts.
