Frequently asked questions
Should I file a Canadian return in my first year?
In most cases, yes. Your first return reports your world income from the date you became a resident of Canada, and filing is also how you apply for benefits such as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (formerly the GST/HST credit).
Do I have to report property I own outside Canada?
Canadian residents may have to report certain foreign property to the CRA, depending on its type and total cost. I review your situation and explain what applies to you.
Can I talk with you in Russian?
Yes. I can work with you in English or Russian. This website is also available in Ukrainian.
